Aircraft Mechanic - Customs and Border Protection

About the Role

The Aircraft Mechanic II maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. This includes maintaining and repairing aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

Responsibilities

• Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition or operation.
• Solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals.
• Perform daily, flight line, and hangar maintenance on all assigned aircraft.
• Conduct inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
• Furnish own hand tools for aircraft maintenance (special tools and test equipment provided by employer).
• Occasionally lead teams through more complex aircraft tasks.
• Make entries in aircraft logs and records.
• Prioritize workload schedules on assigned projects.
• Follow procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
• Comprehend and interpret technical data, including schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• May require travel to other sites.

Requirements

• Valid State driver’s license.
• Willingness to submit to random drug tests.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• High school diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited program.
• Valid FAA Mechanic License with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
• Competence in repair and maintenance of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and systems, including airframes, structural components, hydraulics, fuel and electrical systems, and aircraft engines.
• Proficiency in system troubleshooting and interpreting schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and directives.
• Reliability and good judgment.
• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain workflow.
• Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English, following verbal and written instructions.

Physical Requirements

• Physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties, including moving freely about aircraft interiors within weight limits.
• Ability to stand, squat, sit, walk, and work with arms overhead for extended periods.
• May require wearing a respirator.
• Pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• May work in high-noise areas requiring ear protection.

Pay

Hourly Rate: $44.55
