Aircraft Mechanic - AME - VMG

Amentum is seeking an F-16A/B/C or D Aircraft Mechanic Egress (AME) with an Air Force Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School background to perform organizational, intermediate, and limited depot-level maintenance. This role involves inspection, operational testing, repair, modification, and troubleshooting of assigned aircraft, components, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other employees.
• Maintain assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy, Air Force manufacturer, and company distributor standards.
• Perform all egress system maintenance on and off equipment for F-16A/B/C or D models, including removal, transport, inspection, repair, and reinstallation of ejection seats.
• Inspect, repair, and clean seat harnesses; inventory, store, remove, and replace seat CAD/PAD explosive items.
• Maintain environmental systems, inspect and repair canopy explosive devices, and maintain/inspect On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS) or Liquid Oxygen (LOX).
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, corrosion control procedures (wash, wipe down, polish, vacuum), and operate ground support equipment (GSE), flight line vehicles, and other support equipment.
• Drive tugs for towing equipment and aircraft; annotate maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF System.
• Order aircraft/equipment parts; supervise/assist in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
• Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including off-site service on assigned detachments.

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years’ recent experience in ejection seat maintenance and two (2) years’ recent egress system repair experience.
• F-16A/B/C or D aircraft maintenance experience.
• Graduate of the Air Force F-16A/B/C or D Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School T/M/S or factory equivalent ejection seat course of instruction.
• Qualified on ground support equipment applicable to the specialty; familiar with Navy technical publications.
• Capable of conducting on-the-job training and maintaining Contractor personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout training records.
• Experienced and qualified in the removal and replacement of ejection seats, canopies, and explosive devices at both “I” and “O” levels.
• Valid State Driver’s License.
• In-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions, and special tools/test equipment.
• Previous military service must provide Member 4 DD214 with Honorable Discharge.
• Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance.
• Ability to work all assigned shifts and schedules.

• Collateral Duty Inspector (in 2 T/M/S aircraft).
• Egress System Checkout.
• Non-Nuclear Ordnance Explosive Handling Certified.
• Plane Captain Qualified.
• Aircraft Towing Certified.
• Aircraft Brake Rider Certified.
• Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
• Fuel Surveillance Training.
• Engine Run (1 T/M/S minimum) Troubleshooter/Final Checker Certified.

Work Environment

• Typically performed in a hangar, shop, or flight line environment with physical movements and postures associated with these activities.
• May require working in high-noise hazard areas, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or electrical shock hazards.
• Work conditions may range from comfortable environments to exposure to inclement weather (temperature changes, wind, rain, snow, ice, etc.).
• May require lifting objects up to 70 pounds.
• Requires close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Pay

Hiring hourly rate of pay: $54.47 (hourly rate set by CBA).
