About the role

The Mission System Specialist (Avionics Technician) will provide technical support to the customer at a forward operating location. This role requires a deep understanding and proficiency in the repair, maintenance, and operation of mission systems and electronic equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
  • Meet worldwide immunization and deployment requirements
  • Understand satellite system architectures, time division multiple access protocols, UHF radio frequency transponder and antenna theory
  • Work with communications security (COMSEC) and transmission security (TRANSEC) methods and procedures
  • Apply software configuration and administration techniques including Windows 7, Windows server, and Cisco
  • Administer IBS specific GOTS applications such as TipoffNT, MarsNT, and GTIW
  • Perform electromagnetic interference testing
  • Maintain hand and special tools in a safe and serviceable condition
  • Report unserviceable tools and equipment to appropriate parties
  • Assist in training newly assigned personnel
  • Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times
  • Avoid assisting in aircraft movement flight line FOD prevention walks as required
  • Comply with established policies, procedures, and standards
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Complete maintenance documentation using required forms
  • Discuss discrepancies with aircrews to secure adequate troubleshooting information and flight data
  • Assist in servicing aircraft with fuel, oil, grease, hydraulic fluid, air, oxygen, and nitrogen, as needed
  • Perform aircraft corrosion control inspections/procedures to include wash, wipe down, polish and vacuum, as needed
  • Work shifts as assigned and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required. CONUS and OCONUS deployment may be required
  • Work in the established work/living environment, work shift schedules as assigned 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to support mission requirements
  • Perform other assigned duties as required by Management

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-secondary/Associate's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
  • Ability to complete/pass a required DCMA physical exam and CRC course prior to OCONUS deployment
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Valid State Driver’s License

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly preferred
  • Experience in directly related operations and maintenance of ISR systems operations and maintenance
  • Knowledge of the DIA/DOD rules and regulations for systems security and hardening concepts such as DCID 6/3 is desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid US Passport
