Aircraft Maintenance D - A&P Mechanic

About the role

L3Harris is seeking an experienced A&P Mechanic to join our team in Tucson, Arizona. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience, including an FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate.

Responsibilities

• Maintains Air Tractor 802U aircraft in support of aircrew missions.
• Launches and recovers aircraft, to include tie-down, cover, and plug removal/installation, and perform required inspections to ensure airframe structure and power plant serviceability.
• Adjusts, aligns, and calibrates aircraft components. Performs functional checks of fuel, hydraulic, engines, avionics, and electro-environmental systems.
• Schedules and performs inspections in accordance with OEM established procedures/specifications.
• Uses applicable technical data/manuals when performing aircraft maintenance, and troubleshoots aircraft/system discrepancies.
• Prepares parts for return to the supply system. Initiates material deficiency reports as required.
• Maintains hand and special tools in a safe and serviceable condition.
• Responsible for site, customer, and company tool accountability procedures to include reporting unserviceable tools and equipment to appropriate responsible party.
• Annotates equipment/tools inspection and condition documents.
• Performs serviceability checks prior to operating powered and non-powered support equipment.
• Complies with established policies, procedures and standards.
• Willingness and ability to assist in training newly assigned personnel as required.
• Operates vehicles, both special purpose and regular as authorized.
• Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.
• Assists assigned personnel in researching and requisitioning aircraft parts and components and in determining the reparability and serviceability of these assets.
• Maintains strict compliance with all required Communications Security (COMSEC) policies and procedures.
• In-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.
• Strong working knowledge (input and extract data) of maintenance database technology.
• Willingness and ability to work shifts as assigned and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team if required. CONUS and OCONUS deployment may be required.
• Willingness and ability to work in the established OCONUS work/living environment, work shift schedules as assigned 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to support mission requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-secondary/Associate's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate (A&P license)
• Ability to complete/pass a required DCMA physical exam and CRC course prior to OCONUS deployment.
• Must be a US citizen
• Valid State Driver’s License
• Valid US Passport

Preferred Additional Skills

• Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly preferred
• Strongly prefer recent Air Tractor 802U or similar experience on civilian and military platforms.
• Formal or Specialized Training/Equivalent on assigned aircraft and equipment
• Experience in the use of common hand and special tools/testers as required for aircraft maintenance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

The diversity of working conditions both CONUS and OCONUS range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where there are austere conditions and/or inclement weather that may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.
