About the role
The Lead Technician oversees, directs, and orientes Aircraft Maintenance Technicians to execute their work in accordance with task requirements and company procedures, ensuring compliance with FAA/EASA regulations and OEM MPDs. The role involves direct supervision and guidance of technicians, ensuring high-quality work and safety.
Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise assigned Technicians (A&P Mechanics, Sheetmetal Mechanics, Avionic Technicians, Outside Services personnel)
- Guide and advise technicians on technical activity in accordance with Task Cards/MPDs, Repair Station Manual, and FAA regulations
- Provide leadership and direction, coach and mentor technicians to deliver excellence in job execution
- Secure commitment and accountability at all levels in execution of work and supporting documentation
- Schedule work shifts and personnel to accomplish assigned work scopes in line with project plans
- Aid in elaborating Shift Handover instructions and Work Interruption logs
- Monitor and ensure proper allocation of labor and materials to work orders
- Work closely with inspectors to prevent delays and ensure efficient work
- Report parts requirements and ensure purchase orders and parts consumption are carried out in accordance with company procedures
- Oversee work areas to maintain safety and adhere to regulations
- Report incidents to Quality Assurance & Safety and ensure proper tagging of aircraft components
- Review personnel performance and progress, adjusting schedules as necessary
- Maintain communication with Project Manager and coordinate with relevant department heads
- Deal with customers professionally and ensure all personnel behave accordingly
- Ensure tools and equipment are correctly used and handled by Technicians
- Support the Project Manager with other business activities as needed
Requirements
- Holds a current mechanic certificate with Airframe Rating, and has held this rating for at least 3 years
- At least 3 years of diversified maintenance experience on large aircraft with an Air Carrier, Commercial Operator, or Certified Repair Station
- Knowledge and skills in strong leadership, effective decision-making, negotiation, excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving
