Position Overview

The primary role of the aircraft deicer is to remove ice from the aircraft. The individual inspects the aircraft for ice and for remaining frozen contamination after deicing has been performed, and sprays the airplane with deicing fluid, typically glycol.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe environment during the de/anti‑icing operation and follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Uphold and follow duties related to de/anti‑icing aircraft according to procedures for both airlines and IDS, including inspecting aircraft for frozen contamination.
  • Participate in pre‑planning for the de/anti‑ice event (perform checks on equipment, trucks, servicing equipment with fuel or glycol).
  • Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including paperwork and log books; log and report all maintenance issues and follow proper shutdown procedures for equipment.

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least 18 years old with a valid US driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Successful completion of airport badging and background check process for this location.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; intermediate computer skills preferred.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and carry out instructions in English; effective verbal communication.
  • Tact to interact with all levels of employees and client representatives.
  • Successful completion of all IDS classroom and OJT de‑/anti‑icing training.
  • Availability to work at least 3 shifts per week (Monday‑Friday) and at least 2 weekend days per month (Saturday‑Sunday).
  • Transition to Single Operations Station: must become Single Operations Qualified within the first 60 days of employment.

Work Environment

The Inland Group maintains a drug‑free workplace; all candidates and employees participate in a drug testing program. Work involves prolonged standing with exposure to weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes, and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crawl, climb ladders and work at heights in excess of 15 ft to perform inspections.
  • Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Potential exposure to hazards inherent in airport operations, including noise, vehicles, equipment, and winter weather, mitigated by training, PPE, and safety procedures.
