Aircraft Deicer, IDS SEA

Position Overview

The primary role of the aircraft deicer is to remove ice from the aircraft. The individual inspects the aircraft for ice and for remaining frozen contamination after deicing has been performed. He or she sprays the airplane down with the deicing fluid, which is usually made of glycol.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe environment during the de/anti‑icing operation and follow all company policies and procedures.
• Uphold and follow duties related to de/anti‑icing aircraft according to procedures for both airlines and IDS, including inspecting aircraft for frozen contamination.
• Participate in pre‑planning for the de/anti‑ice event (perform checks on equipment, trucks, servicing equipment with fuel or glycol).
• Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including paperwork and log books; log and report all maintenance issues and follow proper shutdown procedures for equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Maintain and treat all information as confidential.
• Ability to read, write, understand, and carry out instructions in English.
• Ability to verbally direct in English.
• Tact to deal with all levels of employees and client representatives.
• Successful completion of all IDS classroom and OJT de‑/anti‑icing training.
• Ability to speak and hear efficiently.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Successful completion of the airport badging or background check process required for this location.

Work Environment

The Inland Group of Companies maintains a drug‑free workplace and requires participation in a drug testing program. The role involves prolonged periods of standing with exposure to prevalent weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crawl, climb ladders and work at heights in excess of 15 ft to perform role, repairs, or inspections.
• Must be able to speak and hear efficiently to supplement other senses in safety‑sensitive environments.
• Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• May be exposed to hazards inherent in airport operations, including noise, vehicles, equipment, and weather, which are managed with training, personal protective equipment, and safety procedures.

Schedule

Part‑time seasonal. Season runs from mid/late September 2026 through May 2027.
