About the Role

This position is located in Cleveland, OH and focuses on aircraft and component remanufacturing, transforming used business aircraft into modern airframes through advanced engineering and production capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Strong buffing and polishing skills.
  • Ability to spray a variety of paints and finishes, including primer base coat, clear coat, and single stage.
  • Apply coatings to detailed parts, sub-assemblies, and major assemblies of aircraft exterior and interior parts to meet customer or company specifications and industry standards.
  • Select finish ingredients and mix them by hand or machine to achieve specified color or shade, matching existing finishes (sanding, bodywork, primer, paint, finish wet sand, and buff).
  • Perform small blown-in repairs and blending of topcoats.
  • Calculate mix ratios for sealant, filler materials, and paint.
  • Experience cutting and buffing polyesters, urethanes, Imron, and acrylic clear coats.
  • Demonstrate competency in applying techniques to perform normal job duties.
  • Familiarity with and operational knowledge of department tools.
  • Perform moderately complex to complex filling operations to enhance the cosmetic appearance of parts.
  • Remove excess material and prepare surfaces for finishing.
  • Perform difficult masking operations.
  • Document work performed on work orders.
  • Seek methods to cross-train and develop technical skills and business knowledge.
  • Assist aircraft technicians when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum five (5) years of touch-up/color matching experience.
  • Automotive refinishing experience desired; aircraft painting experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be flexible with shift work.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee may occasionally be exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

  • Must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
