Role Summary
As an Aircraft Painter, you will work independently to prepare, paint, and detail aircraft to exacting company and FAA standards. You'll act on behalf of the Lead when needed, guide junior painters, and help maintain a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
- Perform aircraft surface preparation, painting, and detailing with minimal supervision.
- Coordinate with supervisors and Inspectors to ensure all work meets internal quality requirements and FAA documentation standards.
- Support supervision by assigning tasks and providing direction to team members; lead by example in quality and workmanship.
- Use tools and equipment per standard operating procedures, including sanders, hydraulic lifts, sprayers, and other shop tools.
- Apply sealants, strippers, corrosion-preventive treatments, and paints safely while using required protective equipment.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed and proactively address unsafe conditions.
- Utilize the material tracking system to create part demands, track squawks, and complete work sign-offs.
- Assist with aircraft movement within the hangar.
- Adhere to Paint Shop Standard Practices (SPT) and WFR processes.
- Mentor other paint operations team members.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 4 years of related paint process experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Advanced knowledge of paint processes and products, including lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
- Ability to pass a Pulmonary Function Test for respirator certification.
- Ability to climb ladders, work in confined areas, lift up to 40 lbs, and work any shift.
- Computer literacy.
- Thorough understanding of GAMPS, Paint Operations SPT Manual, and paint WFR procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous aircraft industry experience.
Pay & Schedule
- Pay Rate: $32.19/hour
- Schedule: 1st Shift (5am - 3:30pm)
- Location: Savannah, GA
