This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units. Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles, and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

Location: Tulsa, OK

Responsibilities

• Move and/or obtain correct parts, materials, and tools as necessary within the assigned area as directed by management.
• Use precision measuring instruments required to accomplish work assignments.
• Access and navigate electronic systems as required by the position program and/or company.
• Work safely and maintain a safe work environment adhering to established company safety requirements.
• Train, coach, and/or assist fellow employees as requested or required by the company.
• Maintain and utilize required personal certifications and qualifications to perform job assignments.
• Ensure equipment and tool certification occurs per procedure.
• Report job handicaps such as errors in parts, procedures, tools, or sequences.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, planning documents, sketches, engineering orders, electronic work instructions, charts, and graphs to determine methods and sequences of operations for processing and painting.
• Set up and operate chern-mill processing equipment to remove specified amounts of metal from sheet metal parts, assemblies, extrusions, and forgings using etching solution, including developmental, experimental, first-run, and parts with complex contours.
• Set up, operate, adjust, and regulate various types and sizes of ovens, furnaces, and quenching tanks to heat treat metal parts made from aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and similar metals.
• Load parts on racks to minimize warpage and obtain even heat; operate hand and power moving/lifting equipment to place parts in ovens, furnaces, and baths.
• Set up and operate processing equipment to anodize, electroplate, or clean metal parts and assemblies; determine sequences of dips and rinses, position parts and electrodes, and adjust immersion times, temperatures, and voltage/amperage levels.
• Maintain processing solutions and chemicals in tanks as required.
• Set up and operate various types of paint spraying equipment or apply coatings via dip, roll, or brush for interior, exterior, prime, protective, or finish coats on aircraft, automobiles, trucks, trailers, parts, and assemblies.
• Thin and mix paints and other surfacing materials.
• Set up and operate robotic spray coating equipment by selecting and loading program tapes, masking material surfaces, mixing/blending coating material, and controlling spray flow rates, pressures, plume geometry, and robot travel speed/pattern.
• Apply finish coats where difficult access or special care is required to avoid runs and inconsistencies in coat thickness; achieve baked smooth or wrinkle finishes; perform hand brushwork on assemblies.
• Operate robotic spray coating equipment to apply radar absorptive materials to surfaces.
• Perform rework and touch-up when tests disclose the need.
• Record manufacturing data and statistics manually or using a computer-based system.

Pay

$20.00/hour, with potential to earn up to $32.69/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
