About the role

As an Aircraft Completions Specialist, you will fabricate and upholster aircraft soft goods to exacting standards, ensuring durability and aesthetic precision under the scrutiny of aircraft owners and the demands of flight. This role is pivotal in delivering projects on schedule and within budget, with a focus on first-pass precision, shop safety, and seamless project execution.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and upholster all aircraft soft goods, including seats, divans, service ledges, side walls, headliners, and window panels.
• Cover and finish seat assemblies to meet Jet Access finish standards for seams, welts, and stitch lines.
• Complete adhesive bonding, hardware installation, and rivet installation to specification.
• Follow proper aircraft maintenance practices for every component returning to an aircraft.
• Interpret drawings, company standards, and written work instructions accurately to avoid rework.
• Develop patterns from prints, sketches, models, and verbal instructions.
• Inspect, select, and work with fabrics, leathers, foams, and other specified materials.
• Style and shape foams to meet client and design specifications.
• Align intricate and elaborate fabric designs to ensure consistent symmetry throughout the cabin.
• Perform shop math calculations for tooling, detailed parts, assemblies, and installations.
• Set up and operate shop equipment, including routers, saws, sanders, and related fabrication tools.
• Adhere to OSHA requirements and Jet Access safety procedures, wearing required protective equipment (e.g., particle masks, goggles, gloves, head bonnets, disposable protective suits).
• Handle solvents, adhesives, and finishing chemicals according to product data and shop procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, storing tools, materials, and chemicals correctly.
• Work with limited supervision on routine and non-routine assignments, completing tasks within budget without sacrificing quality.
• Minimize rework by inspecting and verifying each component before handoff.
• Communicate schedule risks, material shortages, and scope changes early to protect delivery dates.
• Log computerized labor data accurately for time and attendance tracking.
• Train other team members on specific job assignments and fabrication techniques.
• Recommend improved production methods, including rework reduction, process improvement, and flow reduction.
• Share pattern development and finishing methods to shorten build time or improve consistency across the shop.
• Provide accurate status updates on assigned work to reflect true progress in department Scorecard measurables.
• Complete special projects and initiatives to contribute to Jet Access’s continued growth and success.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years of hands-on fabrication and upholstery experience in a high-craft finishing environment (aviation experience not required; comparable backgrounds include classic/custom automotive restoration, custom marine interiors, fine furniture, or millwork).
• Proven experience using a variety of hand and power tools.
• Technical aptitude, including shop math sufficient for tooling, detailed parts, and installation calculations.
• Ability to distinguish colors and align intricate or elaborate designs in fabrics.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and document written instructions and work performed.

• On-site presence at the Indianapolis interior shop; this role cannot be performed remotely.
• Able to lift and transport up to 60 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Visual capacity and muscular dexterity to work on fine detail, high-cost products with minimal rework.
• Able to wear protective equipment for extended periods (e.g., particle masks, goggles, gloves, head bonnets, disposable protective suits).
• Able to stock and remove materials from bins above storage level with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Able to climb in and out of aircraft and perform work in tight or confined spaces and unusual positions.
• Must not be allergic to chemicals, solvents, paints, adhesives, natural/manmade materials, fabrics, or feathers.
• Minimal travel, with occasional off-site work in support of client aircraft.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening (this position is FAA Safety Sensitive and subject to DOT/FAA random drug and alcohol testing).

What sets you apart

• Aircraft interior completions experience on business jet platforms.
• Familiarity with FAA-approved interior materials, burn certification documentation, and flammability requirements.
• Sewing machine proficiency or cross-training in the sewing department.
• Experience with veneer, laminate, or cabinetry refinishing.
• Prior work in a shop operating under an FAA Part 145 repair station certificate.

Schedule

• Full-time hourly schedule on the shop floor, with start and end times set by project phase.
• Overtime, evening, and occasional weekend work as project deadlines require.
• Accurate daily logging of time and labor against the correct project and work order.
• Attendance at department meetings, safety briefings, and Level 10 Meetings as scheduled.

Pay

Hourly rate of $22.00 to $35.00, based on experience and demonstrated craft capability, paid bi-weekly. This position is classified as FLSA Non-Exempt, with overtime compensated in accordance with applicable federal and state wage and hour law. Advancement within the interior craft pay structure is based on demonstrated quality, output, and tenure, reviewed on a defined cadence.
