About the role
The Avionics Crew Chief at Jet Access serves as a highly experienced technical leader responsible for overseeing avionics operations, leading advanced installations, and driving system integration excellence across business aviation platforms.
Responsibilities
- Perform and lead complex avionics installations including panel upgrades, retrofits, STC modifications, and full system integrations
- Evaluate aircraft configuration to ensure system compatibility prior to installation
- Modify, fabricate, terminate, and route wiring harnesses to professional aviation standards
- Install and configure Gogo ATG and satellite connectivity systems, ensuring proper antenna installation, system calibration, and performance validation
- Diagnose and resolve advanced avionics discrepancies to LRU and component level
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, and aircraft maintenance manuals
- Identify and resolve system conflicts between legacy electrical architecture and modern avionics equipment
- Utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and avionics test equipment to validate system performance
- Troubleshoot Wi-Fi, data, and connectivity integration issues between cockpit and cabin systems
- Perform avionics installations and modifications on piston, turboprop, and light jet aircraft
- Demonstrate working knowledge of common GA platforms including Cirrus, Beechcraft, Cessna, Hawker, and Embraer aircraft
- Achieve all installations meeting FAA regulations, STC requirements, and company quality standards
- Accurately document all work performed in accordance with FAA and company requirements
- Complete logbook entries, Form 337 documentation as required, and maintain organized, audit-ready documentation for all avionics projects
- Serve as avionics crew chief and senior technical resource, setting the standard for installation quality and troubleshooting methodology
- Mentor avionics technicians in wiring practices, system integration, and diagnostic techniques
- Provide installation guidance and review complex work to ensure compliance with OEM specifications and FAA regulations
- Avoid technical risk areas in planning avionics projects
- Promote a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement within the avionics department while communicating technical findings clearly to Maintenance leadership and cross-functional teams
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for avionics installation processes and quality standards
- Stay current with evolving avionics technologies, regulations, and industry best practices
- Collaborate with parts department and vendors to ensure timely acquisition of specialized avionics components
- Maintain constant vigilance for safety protocols while ensuring all work adheres to the highest quality standards
- Complete special projects and initiatives as needed, embracing opportunities to contribute to Jet Access's continued growth and success
Requirements
- Current A&P License preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience with diversified jet, turboprop, or piston aircraft avionics maintenance in MRO environment
- Demonstrated experience leading and overseeing avionics teams and complex installations including panel upgrades, retrofits, and STC modifications
- Proven experience with wiring fabrication, harness modification, termination, and routing to professional aviation standards
- Experience with Garmin, Collins, Avidyne, and other major OEM avionics systems
- Advanced knowledge of system integration between avionics, autopilot, navigation, communication, and flight control systems
- Experience with Form 337 documentation, STC compliance, and audit-ready documentation practices
- Proficiency with advanced diagnostic equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized avionics test equipment
- Working knowledge of multiple GA platforms such as Cirrus, Beechcraft, Cessna, Hawker, and Embraer aircraft
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve system conflicts between legacy and modern avionics equipment
- Proven experience supervising, mentoring, and training avionics technicians
- Valid state driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug screening
- Excellent communication and leadership skills for coordinating with customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams

Benefits
- Base Salary of $30.00-$50.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly plus $4.00 per hour for Crew Chief Incentive Pay
- Overtime pay for all hours over 40 hours per week
- $6.00 per hour shift premium for 2nd shift
- $2.00 per hour travel premium for AOG assignments
Pay
- Base Salary of $30.00-$50.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly plus $4.00 per hour for Crew Chief Incentive Pay
- Overtime pay for all hours over 40 hours per week
- $6.00 per hour shift premium for 2nd shift
- $2.00 per hour travel premium for AOG assignments
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- On call or evening/weekend hours may be required for urgent maintenance needs
