About the role

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Aircraft Assembly Structures Mechanics (Level B or C) to join our 787 production teams working in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift.

Responsibilities

  • Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to protect yourself, colleagues, and workplace.
  • Quality: Maintain rigorous quality standards in all deliverables, ensuring work meets or exceeds expectations and complies with all regulatory and company requirements.

  • Proficiency: Successfully complete new hire foundational training to obtain and maintain all required certifications.
  • Computer skills: Proficient use of a computer in a dynamic production environment.
  • Technical skills: Look up/read/comprehend electronic technical work instructions, drawings and/or specifications.
  • Physical demands: Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment, operate various mechanical lifts, use various hand tools and diagnostic equipment, apply chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes, inspect work quality, check for Foreign Object Debris, work around energized sources, handle, lift/carry up to 35 pounds, push/pull up to 45 pounds, reach overhead, bend, twist, squat, kneel, reach overhead, rotate head/neck, stand, twist at the waist, and walk.

Qualifications

  • Variable shifts (first, second, or third) based on business needs.
  • Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds; push/pull using up to 45 pounds of force; and reach overhead up to six hours per day.
  • Ability to work with high-hazard chemicals using proper protective equipment provided.
  • Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications, if required.
  • Experience using software applications such as internet navigation, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or other specialized computer applications.
  • Experience following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, along with successful completion of training and knowledge assessments involving mathematical calculations, all conducted in English.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, technical, or mechanical field, including equivalent education or military experience, performing work with basic hand, power, and/or pneumatic (air) tools.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite. This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
