About the role
Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking Aircraft Assembly Mechanics (Level B or C) to support the 787-production system as an electrical, system, or seal/wing mechanic in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift.

Requirements
- Must have the ability to work variable shifts (first, second, or third) based on business needs.
- Must be able to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 35 pounds; push/pull using up to 45 pounds of force; and reach overhead up to six hours per day.
- Must be able to work with high-hazard chemicals using proper protective equipment provided.
- Must be able to complete and maintain Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications, if required.
- Must have 1+ year experience using software applications such as internet navigation, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or other specialized computer applications.
- Must have 1+ year experience following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, along with successful completion of training and knowledge assessments involving mathematical calculations, all conducted in English.
- Must have 1+ year experience in a manufacturing, technical, or mechanical field, including equivalent education or military experience, performing work with basic hand, power, and/or pneumatic (air) tools.
Qualifications
- Must successfully complete the new hire foundational training to obtain and maintain all required certifications.
- Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Skills
- Proficient use of a computer in a dynamic production environment.
- Look up/read/comprehend electronic technical work instructions, drawings and/or specifications.
- Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task performed.
- Operate various mechanical lifts (e.g. ladders, tiger and snorkel lifts).
- Use various hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as screwdrivers, ratchets, power screwdriver multi meters, continuity testers.
- Install various aircraft system components and wiring such as: tubing, valves, regulators, actuators, compressors, ducts, and interior components.
- Routefiber optic clean and inspection, light loss testing, routing and installation.
- Apply chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes.
- Work in confined space and respirator usage.
- Inspect your work quality and check for Foreign Object Debris.
- Work around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock, e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise.
- Finger manipulation (keyboarding, other).
- Lifting and carrying up to 10-35 pounds.
- Climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), Crawling, Crouching (squatting).
- Flexion/Extension (head bent down, head bent back), Handling, Kneeling, Bending at the waist, Reaching (overhead), Rotation of head/neck, Standing, Twisting at the waist and walking.
