Air Quality Field Supervisor

About the role

The Air Quality Field Supervisor will work in industrial settings at multiple client facilities while training and directing the work of fellow team members. The role also involves participating in business development opportunities to generate new and ongoing client work and relations. Activities for this position are largely field-based.

Responsibilities

• Drives to and in client facilities.
• Obtains permits at client facilities.
• Completes JSA’s and toolbox meetings.
• Conducts facility inspections/audits/sampling.
• Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of air monitoring equipment.
• Assists with the construction, operation, and maintenance of stationary continuous emissions monitoring systems and mobile ambient air monitoring stations.
• Generates accurate and complete documentation of field activities.
• Responsible for client project management including budgeting, setting and managing client expectations, developing detailed project plans, defining the scope of the project, understanding project risks, and assigning team members to specific tasks.
• Responsible for various phases of proposal writing, including drafting, writing, editing, and proofreading.
• Aids in business development opportunities, including meeting with current and potential clients to bring in new opportunities and projects.
• Trains incoming and current employees in internal and external processes and procedures.
• Supervises fieldwork personnel and ensures quality work is being provided.
• Participates in both internal and external conferences and meetings relevant to the role.
• Communicates effectively and updates the Air Quality Monitoring Manager about ongoing projects.
• Responsible for coordinating, holding, and leading weekly team meetings.
• Adheres to all safety requirements set forth by Providence and clients of Providence.
• Responds to company and client calls including during extended hours of evenings, nights, and weekends and works overtime when necessary.

Requirements

• A two-year technical degree with two or more years of relative experience OR six or more years in the Air Quality field is required.
• A minimum of two years of industrial experience is required.
• Bachelor’s in an environmental field with two or more years of relative experience is preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record.
• Must possess a TWIC card.
• Knowledge of common engineering concepts, practices, standards, and procedures.
• Ability to read, interpret, create, and assemble from drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and sketches.
• Strong electro/mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Good written and verbal skills including the ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word, and other technical programs.
• Knowledge of ambient air monitoring and concepts, Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems, and air regulations.
• Experience in some capacity with fence line monitoring.
• Basic troubleshooting knowledge of analytical equipment.
• Basic Safety Plus certification.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to travel frequently and on short notice.
• Ability to walk long distances.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and to work at elevated heights.
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods of time.
