Air Freight Gateway Operations Manager

About the role

The Air Freight Gateway Operations Manager leads the gateway operations, ensuring operational excellence, high productivity, and high-cost efficiency while maintaining internal customer satisfaction. This role also facilitates smooth interfaces between different functions within the Gateway and with other Gateways and Business Units.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Export operation of the Gateway; oversee inbound and outbound freight flow
• Set up capacity planning (allotments optimization, BSA, consolidation share)
• Escalate and exchange incident issues with stakeholders as necessary
• Aid in large ad hoc opportunities by deciding on spot rates for business opportunities to optimize cost of sale
• Develop, cultivate, and maintain relationships with carriers
• Measure and achieve internal and external KPIs
• Oversee ITP calculation in assigned area to keep resulting under/over coverage within defined maximum tolerance levels, interpreting net archived rate figures
• Check and approve invoices in accordance with established signing power regulations
• Liaise with Operations in Business Units to ensure correct job costing, correct ECA/ICA assignment on MAWB (ITP) files

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and training
• Minimum 3 years of management experience
• Broad knowledge of global customs regulations and policies, with significant experience in global Air freight and customs brokerage industries
• Understanding of warehouse and CFS operations. Extensive airfreight experience
• PC literate to include Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
