Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic.

About the role

Performs the entire scope of work involved in the repair, overhaul, maintenance, installation, and relocation of industrial air conditioning systems, air compressors, and combination heating/air conditioning systems. Performs work on specialized application air conditioning and heating equipment to accomplish proper climatic and temperature conditions. Must have a working knowledge to perform routine electrical repairs and installation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, replace, and/or modify complex commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
• Handle and carry tools, equipment, and testing devices up to 50 pounds.
• Work at various sites, including use of ladders, platforms, scaffolding, hoists, and pulleys.
• Perform duties in various positions, including standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and working in tiring or uncomfortable positions.
• Work inside and occasionally outside on tall buildings or in cramped areas with low overheads.
• Mitigate exposure to hazardous conditions such as gas, smoke, ash, scalding water, carbon monoxide, oil, sulfur fumes, and toxic refrigerants using provided protective gear.

Requirements

• Background investigation is required.
• Pre-employment physical is required.
• Drug test is required.
• Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. issued driver’s license.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Refrigerant, Transition, and Recovery Certification (Universal license) as required by law.
• Initial probationary period may be required.
• Must demonstrate the ability to perform the work without more than normal supervision.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials, sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
