About the Role

The Warehouse Supervisor manages, coordinates, and controls all aspects of a cargo operation, overseeing operational activities including staffing, compliance, budgetary controls, and customer communication. This position may involve responsibility for interactions between individual customers and the company. The role ensures that customer satisfaction, safety, security, quality, and employee relations meet or exceed standards while maintaining compliance with corporate security programs and TSA legislation.

The scope of the job may vary with the size of the operation and its primary line of business.

Cargo Service Functions

  • Responsible for cargo warehousing, including receiving, dispatching, and staging airfreight, air mail, and other cargo at air freight docks and facilities.
  • Operating motorized vehicles related to the operation.
  • Routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, equipment, and facilities, with or without powered equipment.
  • Performing other duties and functions related to the above.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Perform arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Compute rates, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Report to work on a regular and timely basis.
  • Proactively monitor the work of assigned employees to ensure standards are met.
  • Maintain and control all required aspects of the operation in accordance with the corporate security program and TSA legislation.
  • Ensure company audit requirements are undertaken for continuity and compliance.
  • Read, understand, and clarify the implementation of the site-specific security plan.
  • Ensure all WFS staff are issued and display relevant company ID badges.
  • Administer practices in a fair and equitable manner, treating all employees, customers, vendors, and third parties with respect.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), holidays, and days off.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to handle stress.
  • Cognitive skills to set priorities and use independent judgment.
  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Work in a high-noise-level environment.
