Responsibilities
- Manage customers' import/export brokerage and freight forwarding needs.
- Request and analyze various shipping options and make recommendations based on price, transit time, routing, and specific customer requirements.
- Maintain and monitor the loading, departure, transit, arrival, and final delivery of shipments, addressing any issues that arise.
- Problem-solve unforeseen events, utilizing past experience and knowledge of Federal Maritime Commission and U.S. Customs regulations, and collaborate internally and externally to resolve issues to customer satisfaction.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, ensuring prompt and accurate service to meet customer expectations.
- Prepare and execute documents for U.S. Customs and other government agencies, manage billing accuracy and timeliness, and maintain and create Company policies related to credit, pricing, account management, and required service deliveries.
- Act as power of attorney to sign official documents for the Company, and maintain and organize all records for a client’s transactional events.
- Stay informed on various legal requirements to maintain compliance under import/export regulations worldwide, and prepare letters of credit.
- May make visits to customer locations with the General Manager or the assigned Sales Executive, and assist in preparing letters of credit.
- Communicate internally with all departments at the corporate office, with other terminals, third-party agencies, customers, and prospects.
- Perform calculations and apply mathematical concepts to practical situations, including percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Possess a current valid driver’s license, and handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments, and solve practical problems.
Requirements
- CES or CCS Preferred, LCB Helpful
- High school diploma or GED required, college degree helpful
- 3-5 years industry experience required
- Language Skills: Written and verbal communication, reading and interpreting financial reports, responding to inquiries or complaints, presenting information to customers, prospects, top management, and public groups.
- Technical Experience: International logistics-all modes, understanding of customs process
- Office Skills: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, ten-key skills
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, calculate discounts, rates, area, circumference, and volume
- Specific Skills: Current valid driver’s license, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects, solve practical problems, deal with a variety of concrete variables, maintain confidentiality, and work unsupervised.
