AI&T Technician

About the role

Axiom Space is seeking a resilient, high-energy AI&T Space Suit Technician to join our mission-driven team. This position involves testing and maintaining space suits and related hardware, assisting in engineering activities, and performing various tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Train less experienced technicians in maintenance, assembly, testing, repair, and processing of flight and training hardware
• Incorporate engineering changes and perform functional performance testing of space suit components or related hardware
• Assist engineering in fit checks for suited subjects, manned test support, suited chamber events, and classroom training event support
• Support transportation responsibilities to deliver hardware to various events
• Perform daily tasks such as reading engineering drawings/schematics, equipment specifications, and test procedures
• Update various job-related databases as required
• Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing anomalies, recommending corrective actions
• Communicate with customers, other technicians, engineers, logistics, and test subjects during EVA training events

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED
• 7-9 years of related experience
• Experience with pressure systems or familiar with pressurized test equipment
• Ability to read mechanical drawings
• Track record of delivering outcomes in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Good judgment to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges
• Past experience delivering high quality results under tight deadlines

Physical Requirements

• Sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)
• Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)

Work Environment

Generally, a lab environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones
