About the role
We're looking for a volunteer AI Marketing Analyst to help grow and strengthen Career Signal by combining data analysis with AI-assisted content and reporting workflows. This role blends marketing strategy, data analysis, and hands-on use of AI tools (such as Claude) to help the newsletter engage existing subscribers and attract new ones — efficiently and at scale. You'll own the strategy and decisions; AI tools support your analysis and drafting so you can move faster and focus on judgment calls that matter.
Core Responsibilities
- Subscriber Data Analysis
- Pull open rates, click-through rates, and unsubscribe data from the newsletter platform
- Segment subscribers (e.g., students vs. early-career professionals, or by engagement level)
- Use Claude to process and summarize patterns quickly, then translate findings into content strategy
- Content Strategy & Planning
- Decide the daily content mix: internships/job postings, skills insights, career growth tips, community features
- Use Claude to draft first passes of daily blurbs, internship roundups, or "skill of the week" content — then edit for voice, accuracy, and brand fit before publishing
- Subscriber Growth (Acquisition) & Experimentation
- Design and run controlled A/B tests on signup-page copy, subject lines, and lead magnets
- Draft social/LinkedIn promotional posts (with Claude) to drive traffic to the subscribe page
- Track which channels, cohorts, and messages convert best before rolling changes out broadly
- Engagement & Retention
- Monitor which content types keep existing subscribers opening daily emails vs. tuning out
- Run periodic subscriber surveys to keep the audience picture current
- Adjust cadence and content based on data, not assumptions
- Reporting & Pipeline Automation
- Build and maintain automated Python and SQL pipelines to track newsletter KPIs (opens, clicks, growth rate, churn)
- Turn data into clear narratives and reports for newsletter leadership
- Use Claude to help structure and draft reports/dashboards from automated data feeds
- How AI Tools Fit In
- Claude serves as a co-pilot for pattern-finding in data exports, first-draft content, test-result interpretation, and report structuring
- AI tools do not independently access email platforms, send campaigns, run production pipelines, or make final content/strategy calls — those decisions and platform ownership remain with the volunteer analyst
What We're Looking For
- Experience with data analysis (surveys, campaign KPIs, A/B testing) — prior work such as analyzing audience splits or running controlled experiments across user cohorts is a strong plus
- Comfort with (or willingness to learn) Python/SQL for building lightweight reporting pipelines
- Familiarity with using AI tools like Claude to support — not replace — analytical and creative work
- Strong writing skills for subscriber-facing content and internal reporting
- Self-directed, comfortable owning a workstream remotely
What You'll Gain
- Hands-on experience running real subscriber growth and engagement experiments
- Portfolio-ready work: content strategy, A/B testing results, automated reporting pipelines
- Direct mentorship/collaboration with Outcome School's marketing and leadership team
- A reference for future data/marketing analyst roles
