Marketing AI Engineer

About the role

As Sonar’s Marketing AI Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain AI agents and automated workflows that significantly enhance the marketing function. Your primary focus will be on understanding marketing processes deeply, identifying automation opportunities, and creating efficient solutions that improve team productivity.

Responsibilities

• Map and prioritize automation opportunities by working closely with marketing teams to understand their processes and identify areas for improvement.
• Design and build AI agents to streamline marketing workflows, covering tasks such as content production, campaign operations, reporting, lead routing, and personalization at scale.
• Deploy and maintain automations, ensuring reliability and performance as usage grows, and providing regular reports on efficiency and impact to marketing leadership.
• Stay current on AI tooling and technologies, evaluating new models, frameworks, and platforms to inform Sonar’s marketing strategy.
• Collaborate with the Marketing Tooling & AI Operations Manager to ensure automations integrate seamlessly with existing tools and drive adoption of new capabilities.
• Ensure data quality and governance by designing automations that handle marketing data responsibly, with attention to data quality, privacy, and auditability.
• Document and enable all deployed agents and workflows, producing clear documentation and running internal enablement sessions to help the marketing team effectively utilize your creations.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in marketing operations, automation engineering, or a closely related role, with a proven track record of improving team efficiency through automation.
• Deep, hands-on knowledge of marketing processes and tools, including CRM systems, marketing automation, campaign operations, analytics, and content workflows.
• Experience with no-code/low-code automation platforms (e.g., Make, Zapier, n8n) and comfort in extending these platforms with scripting (Python and/or JavaScript).
• Working familiarity with AI agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Claude Agent SDK, OpenAI Assistants) or a demonstrated ability and eagerness to learn quickly.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs and working with marketing data structures (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, GA, Marketo).
• Strong analytical skills and experience building performance dashboards and reporting for deployed automations.
• A clear communicator who can articulate the benefits of an automation to non-technical stakeholders and translate their needs into precise technical specifications.
• An intellectual curiosity and a bias towards building, staying updated on the fast-moving AI landscape, and applying that knowledge to your work.

$100,000 - $120,000 annually
