AI Fluency Education Lead

Anthropic · New York, NY · 2 mo ago
HybridEducation$270k–$365k/yrFull-time

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the Role

Anthropic is seeking an AI Fluency Education Lead to create courses and content that teach people how AI works and how to work well with AI. Most people currently learn about AI through fragmented sources like coworker prompts, videos, or LinkedIn screenshots, making it difficult to distinguish short-term tactics from enduring skills. AI Fluency aims to close this gap by teaching how AI actually works and how to collaborate with it effectively, enabling people to make independent decisions rather than relying on others' examples.

This role is model-agnostic and focuses on durable mindsets and understandings that help users work safely and effectively with any AI system. The position involves creating content (writing, filming, prototyping, publishing) and building systems to scale and distribute that content to the right audiences. You’ll design modular, openly licensed resources—such as short videos, exercises, frameworks, and one-pagers—and develop AI-assisted pipelines to remix and tailor these materials for specific learners. You’ll also collaborate with other teams to prioritize audiences, topics, and formats, and may invent new formats that better align with AI education.

You’ll work closely with a sister group on the education team that researches AI fluency and its measurement, translating their findings into practical learning materials.

Responsibilities

  • Own the curriculum for general-public AI fluency end-to-end, including roadmap, sequencing, quality standards, and decisions on what to teach (and what to omit).
  • Curate and create AI fluency materials—curricula, courses, videos, essays, exercises, and interactive lessons—and set quality standards for partner content.
  • Build AI-assisted production pipelines to shorten the time from idea to publication while maintaining high quality.
  • Translate research frameworks into accessible materials for diverse audiences, such as nurses, teachers, small business owners, policymakers, and community leaders.
  • Learn from and co-create with external institutions, including educators, public-sector organizations, and community groups.
  • Prototype AI-integrated learning formats—such as personalized paths, conversational practice, and adaptive assessments—and test them with real users quickly.
  • Measure learning outcomes, recognizing that completion ≠ comprehension and comprehension ≠ behavior change. Define what effective learning looks like for this audience and track it.

Qualifications

  • Deep experience designing content and curricula for adult learners at scale, with a strong sense of what makes learning stick without direct oversight.
  • Exceptional writing skills for general audiences, particularly the ability to translate technical concepts into intuitive mental models for novices.
  • Experience creating multimedia learning content end-to-end (scripts, video, interactive) and managing agencies/partners to deliver multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Hands-on experience using Claude and other LLMs as part of your production workflow.
  • Technical comfort to build lightweight tooling and automations; this isn’t an engineering role, but you should be able to contribute to production pipelines.
  • Strong, experience-based opinions on pedagogy, balanced with a willingness to adapt when data suggests otherwise.
  • Satisfaction in creating materials that others can teach, such as educators adapting your content for their audiences without your direct involvement.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where processes are built as you go.
  • Proven track record of making people fluent in a subject at scale, even without an AI or education degree.

Preferred Experience

  • Built an education program or content function from the ground up.
  • Background in public education, civic technology, or policy communication.
  • Experience in AI/ML education, learning science, cognitive science, or behavioral research.
  • Co-created content with external institutions and partners, not just vendors or production agencies.
  • Built AI-augmented content pipelines.

Pay

Annual Salary: $270,000—$365,000 USD
