JOB SUMMARY
Crystal seeks a temporary, part-time, exempt (0.80 FTE, 12-month) AI & Educational Technology Strategist in Residence for the 2026–27 school year.
Key Job Competencies
- AI & Systems Architecture: Deep technical understanding of AI platforms and the ability to manage the back-end configuration of these tools for school-wide use.
- Tech Implementation: Expertise in translating curricular goals into technical workflows, ensuring software is configured to meet specific classroom needs.
- Operational Collaboration: Ability to work with the Chief Information Officer and Directors of Teaching and Learning to optimize AI implementation.
- Committee Leadership: Lead the school's various AI committees (Faculty & Administration, Parent/Guardian, Focus Groups).
- Tool Curation & Integration: Stays current with evolving AI trends to evaluate, inform, and guide educators in selecting and using tools that align with instructional goals and enhance student learning.
Essential Functions
- AI Operations & Technical Innovation: AI Technical Lead: Manage the school’s day-to-day technical approach to AI, including privacy vetting and configuring AI tools for student and faculty use.
- Digital Tool Vetting: Serve as the primary clearinghouse for vetting new AI software for technical compatibility, COPPA compliance, and integration with the school’s existing tech stack.
- Strategic Implementation Support: Provide hands-on, technical support to faculty on how to use specific digital tools to support Crystal’s pedagogy.
- Institutional Technical Advocacy: Coordinate with the CIO to ensure that academic software needs are reflected in the school’s broader network and security policies.
- Coordinate with the School’s Librarian to support the evolution of the library into an AI-integrated research hub.
- External Technical Networking: Represent Crystal in regional EdTech and AI cohorts to stay ahead of technical trends and security concerns in independent schools.
- Collaborative Cross-Functional Alignment: Works with diverse members of the Crystal community to develop an AI and Educational Technology Roadmap.
- Strategic Partnership: Consults with the CIO, Head of School, Directors of Teaching and Learning, and the Board on the AI Roadmap.
- Public-Facing Expert: Supports Parent Education as needed.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience managing digital systems or AI platforms, preferably in an educational setting.
- Proven experience working with teachers/faculty.
Preferred Education And Experience
- Experience working with Independent Schools, Boards, Parents/Guardians
Salary and Benefits
This is a temporary, exempt, part-time, benefits-eligible, 12-month administrative staff position. The annual salary for this position is within the range of $100,000 - $115,000. The recruitment period will remain open until sufficient resumes have been received and may close at any time a sufficient pool of highly qualified candidates has been established. The ideal start date for this position is July 6, 2026.
