AI Automation Co-Op
About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking co-op student to drive hands-on projects that help implement AI best practices across our organization. This role is ideal for someone passionate about artificial intelligence, operational excellence, and solving real business problems with practical, scalable solutions. In this position, you will work cross-functionally to research, design, and implement an AI-related improvement that directly supports AMETEK’s digital transformation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Lead an end-to-end project focused on implementing an AI best practice (e.g., workflow enhancement, responsible AI controls, data governance improvements, automation opportunities)
- Research industry frameworks, emerging AI trends, and relevant best practices to inform recommendation
- Collaborate with stakeholders across functions to gather requirements, understand current processes, and define clear success metrics
- Develop documentation such as project proposals, implementation plans, testing plans, and progress reports
- Build prototypes, process maps, or proof-of-concept demonstrations as appropriate
- Implement AI Agents or other productivity tools that drive simplification, efficiency, and speed
- Present final project outcomes, impact, and recommendations to business and technical leaders
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong interest in artificial intelligence, automation, or data-driven process improvement
- Familiarity with AI tools or platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot)
- Experience with research, data analysis, or process mapping methodologies
- Familiarity with python-based machine learning tools (e.g. scikit-learn, pytorch)
- Pursuing a minor in Business
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective written and verbal communication, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Comfortable working independently while leveraging mentors and subject-matter experts for guidance
- Basic understanding of AI concepts (e.g., machine learning, large language models, responsible AI)

This position is available on a full-time, hourly basis.
Pay
Salary Minimum: $50,000
Salary Maximum: $70,000
