About the role

You will join a small but extremely talented team to define a new kind of video game experience. You'll work alongside top otaku minds in the industry, including the creator of Warudo and Cytoid, a Google Deepmind veteran behind Project Astra, and top-tier AI researchers.

Responsibilities

  • Work on defining and implementing an AI companion for the game who cooperates with players in puzzles, remembers across worlds, and influences gameplay.
  • Collaborate with the team to integrate the AI companion into the game mechanics, ensuring seamless and engaging interactions.
  • Contribute to the development of the in-house LLM storytelling system, pushing the boundaries of AI-driven narrative in video games.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure the AI companion's performance meets the game's requirements and enhances the player experience.

Requirements

  • Published or industry experience with LLM post-training.
  • A deep understanding of LLM training and evaluation with attention to detail.
  • Bonus if your post-training work is focused on roleplay.
  • Bonus if you have worked on latency optimization.
  • Experience interacting with the character in real-time.
  • Experience working on gathering human feedback, such as designing a RLHF-style voting system or analyzing human-AI interaction logs.
  • Experience in training LLMs, including knowledge of data processing backend, deterministic and checkpointable data loaders, sharding, memory-saving techniques, scalable benchmarking, and checkpoint selection.

Qualifications

  • Loves anime and the anime aesthetic.
  • Comfortable working on small, fast-paced teams.
  • Excellence in balancing research exploration with product-focused development.
  • Ability to effectively work with research teams to synthesize high-impact needs, design and implement technical solutions, and communicate deliverables and tradeoffs.

Skills

  • Strong programming skills in relevant languages (e.g., Python, Rust).
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Knowledge of natural language processing and AI algorithms.
  • Experience with game development tools and engines.
