AHN System Chair, Department of Hematology and Oncology

About the role

The AHN System Chair, Department of Hematology and Oncology is a leadership role primarily located at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. This position includes oversight of a growing and dynamic program with divisions in Medical Oncology and Hematology and Cell Therapy, and opportunities for academic and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Clearly articulate a vision, drive innovative strategies, and inspire others
• Work effectively within a team-oriented environment and maintain high levels of customer service
• Identify and implement solutions to address issues
• Adopt value-based care quality system metrics
• Mentor and develop physician staff and team
• Prepare all necessary documentation including orders, consents, charges, and medical documentation
• Direct all activities related to maintaining and advancing patient care within the department
• Oversee all programmatic and operational aspects of the Department of Hematology and Oncology
• Participate in regional, national, and international meetings
• Contribute to research activity within the department, including investigator-initiated trials, cooperative group and industry-sponsored clinical trials, laboratory investigation, and publication of research findings

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
• Board-certified in oncology and/or hematology
• Completion of an ACGME-approved Oncology/Hematology Fellowship
• Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment
• 7+ years of experience in oncology/hematology
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong commitment to patient care and education
