About the role
This position is located at Department 02400 FLMG, Surgery, 304 Turner McCall Blvd, and is a full-time, benefits-eligible role. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with no call, weekends, or holidays.
Major Responsibilities
- Completes and documents accurate comprehensive, episodic history and physical assessments
- Orders, conducts, supervises, and interprets diagnostic laboratory and imaging studies
- Prescribes treatments, therapies, and manages acute and chronic health problems
- Develops and implements primary and secondary prevention strategies
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to formulate a comprehensive plan of care
- Maintains billing and productivity metrics, and ensures relevant documentation is maintained
- Provides education to patients, families, staff, and significant others
- Works with interdisciplinary team to develop resource-conscious care delivery strategies
Professional Advocates
- Advocates for patients, families, co-workers, the community, and the nursing profession
- Advises leadership in adopting organizational change and quality improvement initiatives
- Participates in peer review and maintains appropriate credentialing and privileging requirements
- Engages in formal and independent learning activities to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and knowledge
- Establishes effective relationships with the interdisciplinary team, including collaborating physicians
- Presents and publishes research findings
- Encourages involvement in professional organizations
Literature

Licensing and Education/Experience
- Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current Illinois APRN License
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Current Illinois Controlled Substance License within 6 months of hire
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record
- National certification as a CNS from an accredited body
- Eligible for DEA registration; Possession of a current DEA Registration within six months of hire and may vary based on practice site
- Current BLS Certification
- Current PALS/ACLS certification may vary based on practice site
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to work varying hours and shifts to meet the needs of Advocate Health Care
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations
- Able to respond quickly to patient needs and work at a fast pace
- Routinely works with potentially infectious specimens and patients
- Work environment includes probability of exposure to adverse, hazardous, or unpleasant conditions while caring for the sick
- Recognizes needs and behaviors of a variety of patient age groups; understands child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior, and looks for signs of normal aging
- Able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
- For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available
- Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis
