About This Role

Peachtree Academy seeks an energetic teaching professional to teach courses in the agricultural sciences. Intro classes would work with local farmers to reinforce in class learning. Experience could include the areas of farming, dairy sciences, fisheries management, horticultural sciences, poultry sciences, range management, and agricultural soil conservation. This position is part time but could be combined with elective classes for additional hours. 🌾

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging agriculture, horticulture, and environmental science lessons
  • Maintain and utilize school garden spaces, greenhouse areas, and outdoor learning environments
  • Lead hands‑on labs, projects, and seasonal agricultural activities
  • Integrate STEM concepts into agricultural instruction
  • Promote stewardship, responsibility, and Christian character through daily teaching
  • Build partnerships with local farms, nurseries, and agricultural organizations
  • Support or develop student programs such as FFA-style activities, plant sales, or school garden initiatives
  • Ensure safe use of tools, equipment, and outdoor learning spaces

What You'll Do

  • Prepare course materials for class criteria, homework assignments, and handouts
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, and papers
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions
  • Advise students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues
  • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students
  • Select and obtain materials and supplies, such as textbooks and laboratory equipment
  • Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities
  • Select educational materials or equipment

  • Greenhouse Management Experience — Comfort running a small greenhouse, maintaining plant health, and teaching students basic horticulture
  • FFA or 4‑H Background — Experience sponsoring student competitions, leadership events, or agricultural judging teams
  • Animal Care Skills — Familiarity with small livestock, poultry, or classroom‑friendly animals that support hands‑on learning
  • Gardening & Sustainability Knowledge — Ability to integrate composting, soil science, water conservation, and sustainable agriculture practices

  • Outdoor Classroom Leadership — Confidence teaching outside, managing tools, and running safe, structured outdoor labs

  • Project‑Based Learning Strength — Ability to design long‑term student projects like garden plots, crop trials, or ag‑tech experiments
  • Basic Carpentry or Tool Skills — Comfort with simple construction tasks, tool safety, and teaching students practical skills
  • Comfort with Faith‑Centered Culture — Ability to weave character, stewardship, and service into agricultural lessons in a Christian school setting

About Peachtree Prep, Our Early Childhood Division

The early childhood division of the school bases its academic program on a weekly unit of study for academic advancement. Teachers use lesson plans to guide the delivery of information and address individual issues of advanced skill levels or areas of improvement that are needed. Parents may supplement the curriculum by bringing in books, materials, or ideas related to the theme for the benefit of the class.
