About the role
The Department of Agriculture/Weights and Measures is seeking Extra-Help Agricultural Program Assistants to support the Pest Detection Trapping Program. These positions involve placing and servicing insect traps to collect data and detect invasive pests.
Responsibilities
- Place and service insect traps
- Collect and analyze data related to pest detection
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Operate vehicles safely in all weather conditions
- Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and the public
Requirements
- Possession of a valid California driver's license
- Agricultural or entomology experience and/or relevant coursework
- A keen sense of safety awareness
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail and strong customer service skills
- Basic Microsoft Office, data entry, and computer skills
Qualifications
- Experience in agricultural or entomological fields
- Knowledge of methods of planting, growing, treating, and harvesting agricultural crops
- Ability to operate and maintain equipment and vehicles associated with cultivation
- Effective communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
