Agricultural Equipment Operators

About the role

Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmers' fields and/or transport workers to the grocery store, or bank on an as-needed basis. Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities.

Responsibilities

• Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities.
• Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow & fertilize soil or to plant, cultivate, spray & harvest crops.
• Pick apples for fresh marketing and/or processing.
• Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings.
• Set up & operate irrigation equipment.
• Clear and maintain irrigation ditches.
• Inform farmers or farm manager of crop progress.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of three months verifiable experience in performing the tasks described.
• Lifting requirement of 75 lbs.
• Driver Requirements
• Exposure to extreme temperatures
• The employer will provide 4 days of training to allow workers to pick a minimum of 100 bu boxes of apples per day with no more than 2% bruising.
• Repetitive movements and frequent stooping/bending over.
