Agricultural Equipment Operators

Responsibilities

• Tend precision ag equipment such as tractors, floaters, and sprayers to apply products for crop growth and pest control.
• Mix or blend specified materials and chemicals into sprayer machinery according to recommended rates and following pesticide labels.
• Load trucks, tanks, and equipment with product and deliver as needed.
• Perform daily and preventative maintenance of equipment and machinery, including checking fluids, cleaning, adjusting, and general maintenance or service.
• Observe and clean receiving areas and machinery to ensure proper operation and detect malfunctions.
• Drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools, or farm workers.
• Load and unload crops, grain, or containers of materials, manually or using conveyors, handtrucks, forklifts, or transfer augers.
• Attach farm implements such as sprayers, fertilizer trailers, and toolbars to tractors using bolts and hand tools.
• Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery.
• Visually monitor product for irregularities and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Operate and monitor grain dryers as needed.
• Clean receiving areas and facilities to ensure equipment is in good working order.
• Follow all OSHA rules and safety regulations.
• Maintain all required pesticide or fertilizer applicator licenses or certifications as per the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
• Perform general farm duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must hold and maintain, or have the ability to obtain, all required pesticide or fertilizer applicator licenses or certifications per the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
