Agricultural Equipment Mechanic (PT or FT)

About the role

Bish Enterprises, a family-owned agricultural equipment innovator since 1976, is seeking an Agricultural Equipment Mechanic to perform basic and complex diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and lifting equipment. This includes customer-owned and dealer-owned equipment such as corn headers, combine headers, and other agricultural implements, as well as the company's fleet of vehicles and lifting equipment. Work is performed both in the shop and at customer sites. The role requires maintaining a clean and safe work environment and continuously developing technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain good condition and cleanliness of company vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment; return tools to storage areas.
• Follow all company and common-sense safety policies; use all required personal safety equipment; ensure a safe work environment in the service bay; report any issues to the manager.
• Perform basic and complex diagnostics on agricultural, construction, and diesel equipment to determine needed or recommended repairs and future maintenance.
• Complete all service reports and forms (inspection reports, work orders, etc.) in a timely and accurate manner; use computers/tablets for data entry; ensure accurate timekeeping for job costing.
• Perform electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and diesel repairs on equipment as requested; maintain quality work and meet efficiency goals.
• Participate in all requested job-related training and development; actively pursue additional training to improve skills.
• Collaborate with other technicians, parts, and sales personnel; mentor Service Technician Apprentices and junior Technicians as able.
• Work after hours (daily or weekend) as required.

Requirements

• Ability to lift 75 pounds as required without assistance.
• Ability to travel to training events and service calls as needed.
• Ability to work extended hours during the week and on weekends.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle status with a current driver's license; ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
• Excellent skills in operating vehicles and equipment used in service shops (diagnostic equipment, forklifts, hydraulic lifts, etc.).
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Own mechanic toolset appropriate for the work required.
• Proven knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of agricultural, automotive, and lifting equipment.

Pay & Schedule

• Compensation: Starting wage from $16.50 – $24 per hour.
• Job Type: Part Time or Full Time.
• Hours/Work Week: 20-40+ hours per week.
• Hours mostly Monday – Friday; customer deadlines and agricultural seasonality may require additional availability.
