About the Role

The Agricultural Equipment Mechanic performs both basic and complex diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on customer-owned or dealer-owned agricultural equipment, including corn headers, combine headers, and other agricultural implements. This role also maintains the company’s fleet of vehicles and lifting equipment, ensures a clean and safe work environment, and may perform work at customer sites as required.

Starting wage from $16.50 - $24 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Maintain good condition and cleanliness of company vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment, including returning tools to storage areas.
• Follow all company and common-sense safety policies, using required personal safety equipment and ensuring a safe work environment.
• Perform basic and complex diagnostics on agricultural, construction, and diesel equipment to determine needed repairs or future maintenance.
• Complete all service reports and forms (inspection reports, work orders, etc.) accurately and in a timely manner, including data entry on computers/tablets.
• Ensure management is aware of any issues that may impact customer billing or satisfaction and maintain accurate timekeeping for job costing.
• Perform repairs on equipment (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, diesel) with a focus on quality and efficiency.
• Participate in job-related training and development, and actively improve skills through additional training programs.
• Collaborate with other technicians, parts, and sales personnel, and mentor Service Technician Apprentices and junior Technicians.
• Work after hours (daily or weekend) as required by customer deadlines and agricultural seasonality.

Requirements

• Ability to lift 75 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to travel to training events and service calls as needed.
• Ability to work extended hours during the week and on weekends.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle status, with a current driver’s license, and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
• Proficiency in operating vehicles and equipment used in service shops (diagnostic equipment, forklifts, hydraulic lifts, etc.).
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Own a mechanic toolset appropriate for the work required.
• Proven knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of agricultural, automotive, and lifting equipment.

Schedule

20-40+ hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday. Customer deadlines and agricultural seasonality may require additional availability.
