Job Duties
- Repair and maintain equipment fleet, including major and minor repairs on tractors, sprayers, heavy equipment, tractor trailers, forklifts and cars.
- Maintain shop equipment and inventory of supplies such as spare parts, shop chemicals, and consumables.
- Modify and build new equipment as required.
- Document all repair work on asset sheets and label invoices for record keeping purposes.
- Build and maintain relationships with parts houses and dealerships.
- Auxiliary tasks include assisting in choosing and quoting new equipment and helping determine when old equipment needs replacement.
- Calibrate and troubleshoot sprayers and spreaders to maintain accurate coverage.
- Upload coverage maps into sprayers and fertilizer spreaders, download as applied maps, create new field maps, and save files for record keeping.
- Create, layout and record new tile lines and maps in preparation for new orchards.
- Manage JD OPS Center and SMS Basic records for fields, varieties, and applied maps.
- Other duties as required.
Required Skills
- Diesel mechanic experience, including troubleshooting electronic and mechanical problems on a variety of equipment.
- Welding and fabrication experience: lathe, mill, air-arc gouging, Mig-Tig.
- Willingness and desire to learn.
- Action oriented and ability to work independently.
- Computer skills required to record maintenance, orchard mapping, fertilizer and spray mapping.
