About the role
The Mechanical Controls group within Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is seeking a Staff Project Engineer to lead as the Aging Project Manager in the Post Boost Control System (PBCS) Integrated Product Team (IPT).
Responsibilities
- Represent the PBCS IPT with Navy partners, LM leadership, and suppliers.
- Collaborate with suppliers and Navy partners to establish an aging program focusing on tests, analysis, and data analysis to extend the life of solid rocket motors and inert components.
- Lead a team of engineers focused on aging tasks, including tracking and maintaining budget and schedule.
- Lead proposal efforts for subtier suppliers, including establishing scope and proposal evaluations.
- Interface as the primary point of contact for PBCS Aging for both internal and external partners.
- Provide technical expertise to assess, model, and forecast the life-cycle performance of aircraft and system components.
- Conduct trade-studies, reliability analyses, and risk assessments to support sustainment decisions, modernization strategies, and proactive aging-management plans.
Requirements
- Experience in engineering project management, supplier management, annual budget proposals, technical evaluations, and cost/schedule development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

- Exposure to or participation with risk and opportunity identification.
- Experience conducting independent research projects.
- Motivated to independently drive tasks to completion.
- Experience with developing and executing testing campaigns.
- Experience with mechanical and chemical property studies.
