Job purpose

Oversee the operation of aggregate plants to ensure safe, efficient production while meeting quality standards and customer needs. This role is responsible for managing plant performance, supervising personnel, and maintaining equipment to achieve production goals and cost targets.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of aggregate plants to ensure production goals, quality standards, and customer expectations are met.
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, train, and develop plant leadership and workforce to support productivity and performance goals.
  • Manage plant performance, including production output, efficiency metrics, and cost control.
  • Maintain awareness of operational impacts on surrounding communities and ensure responsible operations.
  • Travel between plant locations as required and operate company vehicles as needed.
  • Work extended and non-traditional hours as necessary to meet operational demands.
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge of

  • Aggregate production processes and crushing operations.
  • Operation and utilization of mobile equipment.
  • Equipment maintenance practices and performance optimization.
  • MSHA, DEP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Material gradations and quality control standards.
  • Production and cost performance metrics (e.g., efficiency, maintenance, operating costs).
  • Computer systems and recordkeeping, including Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to

  • Lead and develop teams in a production environment.
  • Analyze operational data and solve problems effectively.
  • Manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, leadership, and customers.
  • Enforce safety standards and company policies.
  • Plan and coordinate plant operations and maintenance activities.
  • Identify and address operational and safety concerns.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with measurable results.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Additional industry or technical training preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of aggregate or plant operations experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Physical requirements

  • Constant (67–100%) required to use a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods.
  • Constant (67–100%) required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Constant (67–100%) required to operate office equipment such as computers, phones, and copiers.
  • Frequently (34–66%) required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally (0–33%) required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally (0–33%) required to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Occasionally (0–33%) required to sit in and operate a vehicle for extended periods.
  • Occasionally (0–33%) required to walk and work on uneven terrain.
