About the role

Birdsboro Quarry, a division of the H&K Group, Inc., seeks an Aggregate and Asphalt Quality Control Technician to ensure quality standards and specifications are met.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all work according to OSHA, MSHA, and H&K Safety policies
  • Follows and assures compliance with quality control plans
  • Collects and tests samples of aggregate and asphalt following standard practices and quality plans
  • Maintains test records and ensures compliance with company and agency specifications
  • Maintains a clean, organized work environment
  • Reads and follows H&K Group employee handbook protocol and procedures
  • Calibrates and maintains test equipment to standards
  • Establishes and maintains lines of communication with plant operations, agency representatives, and quality control supervision
  • Works with sales team to address customer issues
  • Generates reports and communicates results and trends to the quality control team and H&K employees

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Rudimentary ability to use computers, spreadsheets, word processors
  • Able to work in a team or independently as needed
  • Time management
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Attainment of NECEPT technician qualification within 18 months of hire
  • Ability to meet standards of PennDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, the FAA, and other recognized authorities
  • Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (such as the GED)
  • Previous experience working with aggregates and bituminous materials
  • NECEPT bituminous plant and aggregate certification
  • Experience in construction materials production or use
  • Basic knowledge of crushing and asphalt plants

Skills

  • Algebra-level math to perform AASHTO and ASTM procedure calculations
