AFTERSCHOOL/DAY CAMP YOUTH COUNSELOR

Examples of Duties

• Aid in the daily operations of the camp program
• Assist in the preparation of activity areas
• Implement camp activities
• Maintain materials, equipment, and building
• Demonstrate imagination and resourcefulness in working with camp staff and children
• Attend camp staff meetings
• Report injuries to the Camp Supervisor
• Aid the Camp Supervisor in scheduling activities

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Experience in programming and supervising activities for children ages 5 – 12 or any equivalent combination of education and experience

• Nurturing, organized, creative, and resourceful
• Effective communication with young children, parents, and staff
• Knowledge and skill to apply basic youth development principles in working with campers
