After School Driver

About the role

Beyond The Classroom (BTC) is a child-centered after-school enrichment program serving elementary-aged children in South Pasadena. The mission is to provide children with a safe, nurturing “home away from home” where they can play, create, build friendships, and continue learning beyond the school day.

Responsibilities

• Safely pick up and transport children from local schools to BTC
• Arrive on time and follow established school pick-up routes and procedures
• Maintain a safe, calm, and respectful environment in the van
• Keep BTC vans clean, organized, fueled, and ready for use
• Notify BTC leadership promptly of any vehicle or safety concerns
• Occasionally pick up snacks, supplies, or other items needed for the program
• Assist with light laundry and cleaning during non-driving time
• Help with other basic operational tasks as needed
• Build positive and respectful relationships with the children

Requirements

• Experienced, safe, and responsible driver
• Dependable and punctual — reliability is extremely important
• Comfortable driving a passenger van
• Patient and comfortable interacting with children
• Willing to help with light cleaning, errands, and other tasks between driving responsibilities
• Professional, communicative, and trustworthy
• Able to work independently and follow established safety procedures
• Experience transporting children or working in a school, camp, childcare, or youth program is a plus
• Because BTC is a licensed childcare center, employment is contingent upon meeting applicable licensing, background‑clearance, and driving requirements

• Tuesday: 1:00–3:30 PM — 2.5 hours
• Wednesday: 1:30–4:15 PM — 2.75 hours
• Thursday: 1:30–3:30 PM — 2 hours
• Friday: 12:00–3:30 PM — 3.5 hours
• Approximately 13.75 hours per week
• Applicants should be available for the full Monday–Friday schedule, as consistent and reliable school pick‑up coverage is essential

About BTC

At BTC, our drivers are an important part of the children's experience. For many children, the driver is the first BTC team member they see when their school day ends. We want that transition from school to BTC to feel safe, warm, and welcoming. We’re looking for someone who takes the responsibility of transporting children seriously while also enjoying being part of a small, community‑centered team.
