About the role
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible, and productive citizens. Responsible to the District-Wide Director of Chapter 74 Technical Programs; work collaboratively with district-level administrators.
- Conduct classes for qualifying students in your specific content area and provide additional assistance to students as needed.
- Work with the content area Directors in implementing the After Dark Program.
- Know the MA Curriculum Frameworks for the content area applying: Automotive Technology, Health Assisting, Metal Fabrication, Cosmetology, Support Services & Networking, and Advanced Manufacturing.
- Ensure that direct teacher instructional support is provided to all students (general education, special education, 504, ELL).
- Provide grade assignments and prompt, frequent, ongoing, and consistent instructional feedback to students.
- Maintain and record student grades and ensure these are submitted to the Director, Building Principal, and Guidance Department so that student grades are updated in PowerSchool.
- Work collaboratively to maintain and record attendance records in PowerSchool.
- Hold family and student conferences when needed.
- Contact families and students via phone, email, or letter to ensure program participation and completion.
- Work collaboratively with the Director, Principal, family/guardian, and Guidance Counselor to address issues of student attendance and program completion.
- Manage and maintain attendance logs, enrollment rosters; create and maintain student folders.
- Manage and maintain data (e.g., attendance, course completion, pre/post assessments, progress, surveys) to document program implementation.
- Complete data requests and reports related to the successful implementation of the program.
- Help supervise students during arrival and dismissal from the program.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure program success.
- Foster a positive learning environment.
Requirements
- Certified in the content area(s) for which you are applying.
- Preference given to Putnam & HSST teachers, Unit A teachers, and SPS employees.
- Committed to quality instruction and implementation of curriculum standards with fidelity.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and other teachers.
- Understand the goals and requirements of the Common Core Standards.
Pay
- $50.00/hour for working with students
- $29.10/hour for prep time
Schedule
- Program time: Monday through Friday, 3:00 to 5:45 PM
- Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 3:00 to 6:15 PM
- Start date: September 14, 2026
- End date: June 18, 2027
