About the Role

Teach the following Vocational Technical Education Framework Strands:

  • Management and Entrepreneurship
  • Technology

Help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible, and productive citizens. Work collaboratively with district-level administrators and the content area Directors in implementing the After Dark Program. Ensure direct teacher instructional support is provided to all students (general education, special education, 504, ELL).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct classes for qualifying students in your specific content area (Automotive Technology, Health Assisting, Metal Fabrication, Cosmetology, Support Services & Networking, or Advanced Manufacturing).
  • Provide additional assistance to students as needed.
  • Know and apply the MA Curriculum Frameworks for the content area.
  • Provide grade assignments and prompt, frequent, ongoing, and consistent instructional feedback to students.
  • Maintain and record student grades, ensuring submission to the Director, Building Principal, and Guidance Department for PowerSchool updates.
  • Collaborate to maintain and record attendance records in PowerSchool.
  • Hold family and student conferences as needed.
  • Contact families and students via phone, email, or letter to ensure program participation and completion.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, Principal, family/guardian, and Guidance Counselor to address student attendance and program completion.
  • Manage and maintain attendance logs, enrollment rosters, and student folders.
  • Manage and maintain data (attendance, course completion, pre/post assessments, progress, surveys) to document program implementation.
  • Complete data requests and reports related to program success.
  • Supervise students during arrival and dismissal from the program.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure program success.
  • Foster a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Certified in the content area(s) for which you are applying.
  • Preference given to Putnam & HSST teachers, Unit A teachers, and SPS employees.
  • Committed to quality instruction and implementation of curriculum standards with fidelity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and other teachers.
  • Understand the goals and requirements of the Common Core Standards.

Pay

$50.00/hour for working with students; $29.10/hour for prep time.

Schedule

Program Time: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 5:45 PM
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 6:15 PM
Start Date: September 14, 2026
End Date: June 18, 2027
