About the role
The AFCAP V Middle East BOS Civil Engineer Lead/Alternate Site Manager (ASM) is designated by the Contractor to act with full authority in the extended absence of the Site Manager, overseeing daily contract operations.
Responsibilities
- Meet Contractor’s work requirements, including scheduling personnel, work supervision, and quality control.
- Work closely with government and local representatives, scheduling required meetings and being available within four hours to meet on the installation with Government personnel.
- Inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform emergency/preventive maintenance on freezer and refrigeration units, food service equipment, appliances, fitness equipment, HVAC equipment, and general facility systems.
- Determine replacement parts as needed.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain commercial kitchen hood and duct exhaust systems.
- Install, repair, replace, modify, test, and maintain smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and fire suppression systems in accordance with UFC 3-601-02, NFPA, and manufacturer instructions.
- Operate, repair, maintain, test, inspect, and document portable/mobile fire extinguishers in accordance with NFPA 10.
- Work from prints and schematics as required.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BS in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 6 years’ work experience related to site management.
- U.S. Citizen with a current U.S. Driver's License.
- Passport book (not passport card) with at least 13 months of remaining validity and 6 blank visa/stamp pages.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Active and maintainable U.S. SECRET Security Clearance.
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
- Must meet CENTCOM MOD-15 theater requirements.
Skills
- Use computers and related software such as Microsoft Office and other common office products.
- Able and willing to work long hours to meet mission requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in contingency environments and knowledge of government contracts.
- Demonstrates initiative and can identify and complete tasks without constant direction.
- Proactively identifies potential issues and takes appropriate action.
- Works effectively within established direction and priorities while exercising sound judgment independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Facilities experience in Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or Fire Protection.
- Proficient use of SMS Builder.
Working Environment
- Work will be indoors and outdoors with exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and chemicals.
- Overtime and shift work may be required based on contractual needs, as well as occasional to frequent travel.
- Must comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulations, published Company work rules, and written instructions.
- Task-specific work environment training may be provided.
- Must be prepared to function in a wartime or contingency environment to support U.S. interests.
Physical Activities
- Lifting up to 35 lbs individually and up to 50 lbs with team lifting.
- Climbing, extended sitting or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hearing and eye protection, hard hats, steel-toed boots, and Individual Protective Equipment (IPE).
- Day-to-day office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods, attending meetings, and repetitive use of keyboard and mouse.
- Moderate physical exertion, including walking to operating areas and walking upstairs.
Material & Equipment Directly Used
- Exposure to potentially hazardous conditions requiring PPE such as hard hats, gloves, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
- Use of Land Mobile Radios, cell phones, laptops, and other devices to maintain contact and accountability of work activities.
