About the role
This position functions as an assistant to the Maintenance Supervisor while still conducting repair duties associated with the Maintenance Mechanic role.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair all equipment at the plant as needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance procedures as needed.
- Operate a forklift and scissor lift.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace pumps and piping systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and/or modify electrical wiring and control circuits.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace electrical motors, gearboxes, drive systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
- Provide technical assistance to Maintenance Technicians and plant personnel as required.
- Identify training opportunities and recommend training department-wide.
- Plan and coordinate Maintenance Training.
- Act as Maintenance lead for Maintenance Technicians.
- Represent the Maintenance Department in plant-wide shift changes and participate in Lead training.
- Coordinate maintenance functions in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a plant Maintenance Technician.
- Logix and Wonder Ware experience required.
- Knowledge of safety practices and ability to follow designated safety procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with peers, co-workers, supervisors, and vendors.
- Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical materials.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, managers, and co-workers.
- Identifies unsafe work conditions in the work area and reports safety hazards to supervisor or safety coordinator.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to sit.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
- Climb ladders, bend, reach, and pull.
Work Environment
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Temperature in the plant varies seasonally and may be hot and humid in late summer.
- May be exposed to weather outside the plant.
- PPE requirements apply.
