AFB Maintenance Technician, B-Crew

Responsibilities

• Complete complex maintenance repairs and work orders.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Conduct advanced system troubleshooting, both mechanical and electrical.
• Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment, including critical control points.
• Complete and document tasks from the master cleaning schedule.
• Provide excellent internal customer service.
• Set up and install high-speed mechanical seals.
• Perform boiler maintenance and troubleshooting, including safety, functionality, and controls.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuit issues, electro-pneumatic systems, control systems, motor control circuits, and electrical/P&ID drawings.
• Complete and record required daily wastewater tests.
• Train lower-level Maintenance Technicians.
• Adhere to safety, quality, delivery, and cost requirements, including:
  • Lock out/tag out procedures.
  • Fall protection measures.
  • Emergency evacuations.
  • Inspection, wear, and maintenance of appropriate PPE.
  • Ladder safety.
  • Spill containment and clean-up.
  • Confined space entry.
  • NFPA 70e Arc Flash compliance.
  • Food Defense and GMPs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• 3+ years of maintenance experience in food-grade manufacturing (preferred).
• Computer and microprocessors experience (preferred), including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of safety codes, electrical circuits, plant food safety requirements, NFPA 70e, and isolation/elimination of energy sources.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and reliability.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, bend, reach, and pull.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
• Often required to climb ladders.

Work Environment

The work environment varies seasonally, with temperatures in the plant potentially hot and humid in late summer. Employees may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The meat room remains cold year-round. Noise levels in the production environment are usually moderate to loud. PPE requirements apply.
