TITLE: PARENT LIAISON Definition Implements and manages district-wide parenting initiatives and activities to empower parents to become positive active participants in the education of their children. Supports the district principals and Title 1 chairperson to document parental involvement. Supports individual school goals upon placement. Qualifications Minimum of a high school diploma. Additional college coursework preferred. Experience coordinating activities and events preferred.Strong written and oral communication skillsComputer literateExperience working with children and familiesAbility to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students, parents and staffBilingual (English/Spanish) preferred Reports To Under the general supervision of the District Family Engagement Coordinator Job Goals Serves as the liaison between parents, teachers, and school personnel. Coordinates parenting sessions and activities. Communicates issues of interest to parents through various formats. Provides information to families regarding public and private resources available. Assist staff with follow-up of core parent issues. Confidentiality CourtesyCooperation and positive attitudeReliability/punctualityTimeliness in respect to deadlinesRespectfulness toward othersHonestyEthical Responsibilities And Duties Provide the coordination, technical assistance, and other support necessary to assist and build the capacity of the school in planning and implementing effective parent and family involvement activities to improve student academic achievement and school performance.Promote strategies to support successful school and family interactions.Promote the importance of communication between teachers and parents on an ongoing basis through avenues such as parent-teacher conferences, reports to parents on their children's progress, and volunteer opportunities in a language the family can understand.Provide assistance to parents of children served by the school, as appropriate, in understanding academic standards and how to monitor a child's progress and work with educators to improve the achievement of their children.Coordinate and assist in home visitations.Coordinate and assist interpretation when appropriate.Collaborate on family and community events Terms Of Employment This is an eleven (11) month assignmentSalary and benefits as per Board policy.
