About the Role

The Parent Liaison maintains open and effective communication between the school and parents, supports parent-teacher engagement, and assists with home visits and community outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communication between home and school by providing parents with information and support to ensure student success.
  • Maintain professionalism in written and oral communication with employees, students, families, and community leaders.
  • Provide program information, policies, and procedures to current and potential families, including translations for ESOL parents and students.
  • Understand and share community resources available to parents and students, including housing, transportation, food and clothing assistance, medical and dental care, and childcare options.
  • Develop a method for collecting parent input and feedback regarding the program and address concerns with appropriate staff.
  • Translate written materials (letters, notices, social media posts, flyers, community resources) and conduct regular Blackboard phone calls for non-English speaking populations.
  • Provide interpretation services in English and Spanish for parents, teachers, and administrators during conferences, meetings, and evening events.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including transcripts of parent notifications and meetings, and document all parent communication in STARS.
  • Assist staff in meeting or exceeding FTE goals by supporting the Orientation Teacher with home visits to increase retention.
  • Contact potential students to provide program information and answer questions about the enrollment process.
  • Conduct home visits for potential students to assist with enrollment and address parent questions.
  • Increase parent and family involvement in school events by collaborating with staff to create opportunities (e.g., parent orientation, family information nights, conferences, interactive events, college information nights).
  • Encourage participation in school activities through phone calls, emails, Blackboard calls, home visits, and in-person meetings.
  • Serve as a liaison to increase community involvement by collaborating with feeder school counselors, attending community events, and educating stakeholders about the school’s mission and goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, aligned with company policies and objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (Associate’s Degree preferred).
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends for parent and community events.
  • Proficiency with general office and telephone equipment.
  • Computer literacy with experience in Microsoft operating systems (Windows XP, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including word processing abilities.
  • Bilingual in local area languages and customer service experience preferred.
  • Understanding or prior use of the District’s MIS is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with at-risk youth in a school setting preferred.
