Aerospace TIG Welder position at GE Aerospace’s Beavercreek site, where you’ll contribute to the production of advanced jet engines, components, and integrated systems for commercial and military aircraft.

About the Role

Execute manufacturing tasks with a focus on safety, quality, and the critical nature of aircraft parts. Work at our Beavercreek facility, which specializes in gas turbine tubes, ducts, manifolds, machining, fabrication, investment casting, and repair/overhaul of aerospace components. The site holds OSHA’s highest safety rating and fosters a collaborative, high-performing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Weld metal components as specified by layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or manufacturing operations sheets (MOS) using TIG welding equipment.
  • Set up and connect welding cables to achieve specified amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse.
  • Manually guide the torch along weld lines, maintaining arc length and travel speed for proper fusion and bead formation.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Examine welds to ensure bead size and conformance to specifications.
  • Apply filler rod, clean weld joints, and prepare rework parts for welding.
  • Position or clamp workpieces together, or assemble them in jigs/fixtures; tack assemblies as needed.
  • Use a computer daily to check email, view/download shop drawings, and follow work instructions.
  • Cross-train in other team areas and processes to meet production needs.
  • Train team members on standard work and machine operation.
  • Assist in other areas as directed by leadership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of a TIG welding training course (formal program) or minimum 6 months of TIG welding experience.
  • Successful completion of the Unison-Dayton TIG Welding Assessment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to high-risk/hazardous operations and potential shift work.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, with availability for overtime as needed.
  • Ability to follow safety rules, pass/maintain required vision testing, and use shop equipment safely.
  • Proficiency in basic and shop math (fractions, decimals, whole numbers) for precise work.
  • Ability to read and apply technical information and blueprints.
  • Use of standard measuring tools (e.g., manual calipers, micrometers) to verify dimensions and prevent defects.
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and visual instructions to complete work on time.
  • Responsible use of tools/materials, reduction of scrap/rework, and early issue escalation for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds (occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance).
  • Willingness to work in environments with moving equipment (e.g., forklifts, cranes) and exposure to dust, fumes, or smoke (within OSHA limits).
  • Comfort standing for extended periods, walking, and climbing stairs; most areas are climate-controlled.
