Aerospace Precision Machinist

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Aerospace Precision Machinist Lead supporting TOS II at Arnold AFB, Tennessee. The selected candidate will work as part of an integrated team responsible for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. This position is open to internal candidates only.

About the Role

The successful candidate functions as a working group leader over lower-grade craftsmen, directing, setting up, and operating a variety of machine shop tools such as manual lathes, milling machines, boring mills, CNC lathes and CNC milling machines, CNC wire and CNC sinker machines, ID/OD grinders, jig grinders, surface grinders, and other general machine shop tools.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate both new and replacement precision complex parts for test articles, experimental equipment, machinery, and other items.
• Make parts from ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including high-temperature resisting alloys, copper, bronze, brass, and non-metallic materials.
• Work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, and oral instructions; apply standard shop mathematics in setting up work.
• Perform all machine and hand operations, including tapping holes, scraping, and fitting sub-assembly work.
• Perform precision grinding, lapping, drilling, filing, and other operations.
• Disassemble, assemble, install, and repair test and operating equipment.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Six years of progressive precision machinist experience, which may or may not have been as an apprentice in the trade.
• Ability to direct the work of lower-grade craftsmen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area computer network.
• Current U.S. citizenship required.

Pay

$40.37 – $44.86 per hour at Arnold Air Force Base, TN.
