Aerospace Painter - 1st Shift

Key Responsibilities

• Plans the production for the shift by analyzing what parts are to be painted and coordinating the flow of parts to maximize quality and productivity.
• Assigns tasks to lower-level employees in the department.
• Receives parts to be painted from paint assistant or coordinator.
• Verifies what processes are to be completed.
• Work closely with Paint Assistants and other experienced Painters and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
• Follow shop traveler, technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced Operators and Department Leads.
• Mixes paint to specifications.
• Paints parts with the appropriate thickness as described on the specifications.
• Verifies paint thickness using an Isoscope.
• Moves racks or parts between the staging area and oven.
• General review of paperwork to ensure all previous operations were completed.
• Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
• Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning.
• Prepare parts as called out in Purchase Orders and Tech Cards.
• Perform inspection, measuring, and testing of part surfaces as required.
• Maintain paint guns and paint booths ensuring cleanliness at all times.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to pass a background check and drug/alcohol screening. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays. Must be able to follow safety procedures and guidelines.
